Sailing to Catalina

Just a four-hour sail from our Long Beach charter base lies an Island far removed from the rest of the world. People come to this Island paradise to escape the monotony of everyday life. The opportunities for escape are endless –golfing, deep sea fishing, diving, shopping, dining, dancing, sightseeing, ocean rafting, sunbathing, relaxing, biking, camping, swimming, hiking, kayaking, glass bottom boating, snorkeling, parasailing, and nature walking. Sailing in San Diego

San Diego Harbor features 23 square miles of smooth, protected waters. The bay and the Pacific Ocean beyond offer a wide variety of sailing excursions.

  • Go on a Navy sight-seeing tour and encounter aircraft carriers, submarines, fighter jets and helicopters. San Diego Bay is the proud home of the Pacific fleet.
  • Watch a glorious sunset over the Pacific Ocean and then cruise along the downtown waterfront under the lights of the San Diego skyline and majestic Coronado Bridge.
  • Pack a picnic and head for a scenic anchorage. Try Coronado’s Glorietta Bay or La Playa behind Shelter Island.
  • See whales, dolphins, seals and a wide variety of birds on a cruise to the Coronado Islands in Mexico, just 12 miles to the south of Point Loma
  • Dock-and-dine at the many excellent waterfront restaurants.
  • Get a guest slip on the Embarcadero, then spend the night enjoying downtown San Diego’s Gaslamp District or watch a ball game at the new Petco Park.
  • Take a weekend cruise up the coast and visit the scenic harbors at Mission Bay, Oceanside, or Dana Point.

Sailing in Long Beach

group-photo3Well known for the best and most consistent winds in Southern California, Long Beach is an excellent place to sail. The huge natural bay gives boaters a large sheltered cruising ground, as well as quick access to open water and Catalina Island.

  • Take a sunset cruise on the bay, and then dock at Shoreline Village for an evening of fun. Enjoy the many restaurants, shops, and entertainment.
  • Sail down to nearby Alamitos Bay for a leisurely tour of the harbor. Anchor in a sheltered cove for a picnic.
  • Take a harbor tour past the world famous Queen Mary. See cruise ships and giant cargo ships first hand from the water.
  • Sail down the coast to Newport Harbor. Cruise the scenic waterways lined with beautiful homes. Enjoy lunch at the guest anchorage, or dock at several waterfront restaurants.

Sailing to the Channel Islands

Comprising of five of the eight California Channel Islands, Channel Islands National Park is home to a wide variety of nationally and internationally significant natural and cultural resources. Over 2,000 species of plants and animals can be found within the park. One half of Channel Islands National Park is comprised of the waters surrounding the islands and extending one mile offshore. The park waters provide numerous recreational opportunities to include sailing to secluded anchorages, fishing, scuba diving, kayaking and exploring over 175 miles of
coastline in the park. Private boaters may land on all five islands within Channel Islands National Park throughout the year.
