5 Day Liveaboard - Beginner/Intermediate
   
 
   

US SAILING Basic Keelboat + Basic Cruising
Out of the San Diego or Long Beach location, our 5 day Liveaboard Learn to Sail Vacation for those new to sailing combines the US SAILING Basic Keelboat and Basic Cruising certification courses. At the end of your vacation, you will be qualified to sail boats up to 35 feet in length at the end of your trip. Students will live aboard a Catalina 320 in San Diego or a Beneteau 31 in Long Beach and receive 4 days of private sailing instruction. The first two days of your vacation consist of the Basic Keelboat training course aboard a Capri 22 both days. At the end of the second day of your trip, you will be certified to sail boats up to 25 feet in length. The second two days of your trip consist of the Basic Cruising course on your liveaboard yacht, which certfies you to sail boats up to 35 feet in length. The final day of your vacation is spent on your own sailing aboard your liveaboard yacht.  This vacation is priced for 2 students and is scheduled on a Monday - Friday period according to your availability.

Monday & Tuesday
Check in at 9:00am. Keelboat instruction aboard a Capri 22.

Wednesday & Thursday
Basic Cruising instruction aboard a Catalina 290 on Wednesday and your liveaboard yacht on Thursday. 
*If taking class out of Long Beach, you may elect to sail to Catalina on Thursday with your instructor, but would then need to pay instructor's ferry ticket back to Long Beach and mooring fees in Avalon harbor.*

Friday
Your day to practice your new skills! Sail back to our marina on your own by 5:00pm.
 

 

     
5 Day Liveaboard - Intermediate/Advanced
   

US SAILING Basic Cruising + Bareboat Cruising
For graduates of the US SAILING Basic Keelboat course, this advanced level Learn to Sail Vacation incorporates both the Basic Cruising and Bareboat Cruising certification courses. By the end of this 5 day learning vacation, you will be qualified to sail boats up to 45 feet in length. You will be living aboard a Beneteau 40 or Catalina 42 MkII if you schedule your vacation out of San Diego, or a Beneteau 40 if you schedule out of Long Beach. The first two days of your trip consist of the Basic Cruising course aboard boats 27 - 35' in length. The second two days include the Bareboat Cruising course on your liveaboard yacht. On the third day of your vacation, you will sail over to one of many destinations in San Diego or to Catalina Island if you take the course in Long Beach. Upon arriving at your destination, you will complete the written exam and the instructor will depart, leaving you to stay overnight at your guest slip or mooring if you choose to do so. The last day of the trip is yours to sail back our marina on your own! This vacation is priced for 2 students and may be scheduled on a Monday - Friday according to your availability.

Wednesday & Thursday
Bareboat Cruising instruction aboard your liveaboard yacht.  Wednesday includes an overnight at your guest slip or anchorage in San Diego or a mooring in Avalon harbor in Catalina. 

*You may elect to stay in Avalon harbor Thursday night as well but would then be responsible for mooring fees that night*

Friday
Your day to practice your new skills and sail back to the marina by 5:00pm on your own!
 

 

     
3 Day Liveaboard - Intermediate
   


US SAILING Basic Cruising

For graduates of Basic Keelboat, this 3 day private Learn to Sail Vacation will qualify you to sail boats 27 to 35 feet in length. Your liveaboard yacht will be our Hunter 31or Catalina 320 if you take the course in San Diego, or a Beneteau 31 if you take it in Long Beach. The first day consists of on the water instruction aboard one of the smaller vessels in this size range, such as a Catalina 290. On the second day of your trip, you will be taught on your liveaboard vessel.  At the conclusion of the second day, you will complete your written exam and the instructor will depart, leaving you to stay overnight at your guest slip. The third day of your trip allows you to practice your new skills and sail back to our marina on your own! This course is priced for two students and may be scheduled any 3 consecutive days depending on availability.

Check in at 9:00am. 1st day of instruction aboard 29' yacht until 5:00pm. Return to marina for the night.

Day 2
2nd day of instruction aboard your liveaboard yacht from 9:00am - 5:00pm. Instructor will depart after written exam at the end of the day.

*If taking class out of Long Beach, you may elect to sail to Catalina on Day 2 with your instructor, but would then need to pay instructor's ferry ticket back to Long Beach and mooring fees in Avalon harbor.*

Day 3
Your day to practive your new skills! Sail on your own back to our marina by 5:00pm.

US SAILING Bareboat Cruising

For graduates of Basic Keelboat and Basic Cruising, this 3 day private Learn to Sail Vacation will qualify you to sail boats up to 45 feet in length. Your liveaboard yacht will be our Beneteau 40 or Catalina 42 MkII if you take the course in San Diego, or a Beneteau 40 if you take it in Long Beach. The first day consists of on the water instruction aboard your liveaboard yacht. You will sail your liveaboard yacht over to one of the many destinations in San Diego, such as Mission Bay, or to Catalina Island if your vacation is scheduled out of our Long Beach location.  On the second day of your class, you will complete your written exam and the instructor will depart, leaving you to stay overnight at your guest slip or mooring if you choose to do so. The third day of your trip allows you to practice your new skills and sail back to our marina on your own! This course is priced for two students and may be scheduled any 3 consecutive days depending on availability.
