What is a flotilla?

A flotilla is a group sailing vacation to a destination like Catalina Island. Most of these trips are about a week long and feature stops in several harbors and anchorages. Each year, the club selects several itineraries and dates. Members then reserve boats for the flotilla of their choice. A planning meeting is scheduled prior to each flotilla giving interested members and friends the opportunity to meet each other. The meeting is led by a club instructor who covers all of the details. This same instructor then serves as the flotilla guide during the cruise. You can reserve a whole boat for you and your family, or use the member’s only website to meet up with other singles or couples to share a boat. If you wish you can also charter a cabin on the boat skippered by the instructor.

Going on a flotilla is the perfect way to make your first extended cruise. The club’s instructor guides you through the planning process including provisioning, navigation and other important issues. During the cruise, you will also have the security of having an experienced guide leading you from port to port. When you all arrive at the next port-of-call, there will be plenty of friends there to share your sailing stories with from the day’s passage. SAIL IN A CLUB REGATTA

Meet other members and enjoy the excitement of sailboat racing during one of our Tuesday evening racing regattas. Sailboat racing is more fun in evenly matched boats. We race “one-design” in the club’s fleet of Capri 22’s. Many members bring their own crews, racing as a team week after week. Others prefer signing up as individuals and crews are formed at the club on race day. Whether you’re an experienced skipper or “leaning the ropes” as a crew you’ll enjoy the camaraderie and good fellowship of racing.

Find other members to go sailing with through our on-line sailing partners program. Once you have registered and received your username and password, you can post dates that you are interested in going sailing or respond to other member’s invitations to go sailing. This is a great way to meet new friends as well as a way to share the expense of your boat rentals.
